Neighbours’ Estelle Petrides (Maria Mercedes) is a wrong-un and she can’t seem to stop proving how wrong she is. She’s already left daughter Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou) pulling her hair out over her behaviour towards her ex Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) and her plethora of lies, but now she hits a new low.
Terese is a good woman and can’t help but feel pangs of guilt at sending her mum packing. She knows Estelle has nothing to her name and feels she needs to help her. But Estelle is not just a tough cookie, she’s a scheming one. Terese doesn’t realise that she’s in fact well rid.
Estelle is still in town and when Glen Donnelly (Richard Huggett) discovers her situation, his own guilt is piqued, and he offers to put her up at the vineyard. She readily excepts, hoping it’ll give her the chance to get back into Terese’s good books, for which she will do anything, anything to get back into.
And before long her first opportunity to scheme arises, with poor Glen caught up in her web. After learning his drug secret, she seizes this information and blackmails him into getting Terese to give her another chance. It works and the mother and daughter start to make amends, although little does Terese know it’s all built on lies. And even then, Estelle can’t stop herself manipulating the situation.
Glen becomes terrified his secret is about to be revealed – will he take things into his own hands to save face?
Before he can, Terese learns the heartbreaking truth of both Glen and Estelle’s betrayal. At the end of her tether, Terese gives her mum the ultimate ultimatum; she must choose between money or her daughter. Is it really any question what this schemer will chose?
Scenes air from Monday June 6 on Channel 5.
