Stacey Solomon just coloured her own hair using £12 L’Oréal Paris box dye

You can always count on Stacey Solomon to stay grounded, as she revealed she doesn’t need an expensive trip to the salon to keep on top of her roots.

The TV presenter and queen of relatability went live onher Instagramlast night (August 1) to chat with her followers whilst she coloured her own hair.

Sitting on her bed in a pair of pink pyjamas, Stacey showed off her root growth, saying: “Does anyone else at 33 just have a full head of greys?” as she gave people a closer look at her natural hair colour which was peppered with silvery grey strands.

Adding: “That’s three kids that’s what that is, and I’ve let my roots get so bad, this is not good, I should have done this months ago,” as she shared that the family are going on holiday on Thursday, prompting her to get her colour topped up before they went.

Taking out a box of dye, Stacey shared that she uses L’Oréal Paris Preference Permanent Hair Dye in the shade Very Light Ash Beige Blonde 9.12, £11.99 here, adding that she does work with L’Oréal but this is the colour she always uses to dye her hair.

Although her roots are much darker than the rest of her blonde locks, the TV personality added that she uses the same colour all over, and when it comes to topping up her regrowth, the colour ends up matching perfectly.

“Because I haven’t done it in so long it feels a bit brassy, it needs a good top up,” Stacey told her fans as she showed off her hair's current colour, before joking: “I actually can’t wait, I can’t remember what I look like without these,” as she points to her roots.

The at-home dye kit comes with gloves, which Stacey dons before opening the colour bottle and pouring it directly into the developer bottle as per L’Oréal’s instructions, before giving it a good shake to combine the two into an even mixture.

After twisting off the applicator cap, the former singer then began to section her hair, using the nozzle to pour the colour directly onto her roots and using her hands to rub it in and get even coverage.

Just in case you’re new to dying your hair at home, the secret to getting an even, all-over colour is diving your hair up into small sections, as this helps make sure the colour fully saturates your locks and stops you from missing any bits.

Once she’d finished dying her hair and left it to process, Stacey popped back to her Instagram stories to show her followers the results of her DIY job, which turned out a gorgeous ashy blonde colour and blended with the rest of her hair perfectly.

Good job Stace!

Stacey's not the only celeb who's been braving an at-home hair colour, as former footballer and sports presenter Alex Scott experimented with a Garnier DIY colour kit recently as she prepared for the FIFA Women's World Cup.
