Stranger Things play set to kick off theatrical trilogy in West End and Broadway

Stranger Things: The First Shadow animated teaser

Last night, the Stranger Things play opened in London’s West End to rave reviews from critics.

The 1959-set prequel tells the origin story of Henry Creel aka Vecna, in more detail than Stranger Things season 4 could fit in.

Now Deadline reports that Stranger Things: The First Shadow is to be the first in a trilogy of theatrical productions.

Industry insiders say that the plays will debut in two or three-year intervals with both stage sequels set to launch in London first.

Meanwhile, Stranger Things: The First Shadow is set to transfer to Broadway in the future.

The outlet noted that none of this is official just yet as producers and backers are studying reviews and box office over the weekend before green-lighting the next two productions.

Express.co.uk caught Stranger Things: The First Shadow and we were amazed by the incredible special effects thanks to Netflix’s mammoth budget, but felt the story was satisfactory – much like Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
