Strictly’s Molly Rainford’s life off screen including unrecognisable Britain’s Got Talent performance

Molly Rainfordwas confirmed as the 10th celebrity to join theStrictly Come Dancing2022 line-up.

The 21 year old singer from Essex currently appears on CBBC children’s show Nova Jones, playing the part of an 18 year old intergalactic popstar who occupies her time performing in space.

The news of her appearance on the show was broken on the official Strictly Instagram page as they posted a short clip with the caption: “Say hello to Molly Rainford, she's an intergalactic pop superstar from @CBBC and she's here to star on #Strictly! @mollyrainford," followed by a dancing woman emoji.

After the Strictly news came out, Molly took to Instagram to share her excitment: “The secret’s finally out, I can’t believe it… I’m doing Strictly!!

"I already know it’s gonna be an experience of a lifetime & I can’t wait to meet the rest of the @bbcstrictly family I’ll be sharing it with, get me to the dance floor.”

Molly burst onto TV screens at the age of eleven in 2012, when she sang Ave Maria and later became the youngest ever finalist ofBritain’s Got Talent.

Following her auditionAlesha Dixon, told her: "You are 11 years old and you sing with such maturity and control. You've just blown me away."

WhileDavid Walliamsjoked: “I just worry that you're too old. You're kind of faultless, well done.”


Simon Cowelladded: "I've got to tell you Molly I like you because you've got soul, I really do believe that."

The young singer made it all the way to the live final shows, however lost out to winning to dog act Ashley and Pudsey, reaching sixth place instead.

She chose to continue her studies after BGT and Simon Cowell and Sony Music honoured Molly with their first ever drama school scholarship at internationally renowned Sylvia Young Theatre School.

Ahead of her time on Strictly, Molly toldMailOnline: “I've always loved performing and being on stage, but I've never been the most confident dancer.

“I'm super excited for the challenge to push myself outside of my comfort zone and hopefully add another string to my bow.

“It will introduce me to a whole new way of expressing myself! I'm also pretty competitive and I'm excited meet the Pros and the other contestants. And on top of all that, I absolutely love the glitz and glamour the show brings to the floor every week.”

Molly has been shortlisted for best newcomer at the 2022 Variety Club Showbusiness Awards and has released two EP's, including single Commitment, which garnered over two million streams.
