Neighbours spoilers follow for Thursday’s (September 21) episode that is now available to stream on Amazon Freevee.
Neighbours finished out its first week back on air by revealing one of its biggest secrets to date, with Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne) addressing the noticeable distance between she and husband Karl (Alan Fletcher).
The popular Aussie soap returned to screens earlier this week for the first time since its star-studded finale on Channel 5 and, despite being all smiles during the episode in question, it was clear that not all was right in the Kennedy household two years on.
Jane Harris (Annie Jones) was quick to notice that Susan was keeping her gorgeous new bracelet a secret from Karl and, when questioned on the matter, the former school principal was evasive.
Subsequent scenes saw Susan secretively looking at her laptop, presumably ordering expensive gifts online, with Thursday’s offering of the Freevee soap seeing Wendy Rodwell (Candice Leask) dropping off a parcel for her.
The parcel in question went in the cupboard, along with the other pieces of expensive jewellery, as Susan turned her attention to Karl, ordering him to deal with Holly Hoyland (Lucinda Armstrong-Hall), who has been neglecting her duties at work.
Knowing Susan was to blame for her dad’s lecture, Holly cruelly dropped her stepmum in it, telling Karl all about the secret box stored in the living room cupboard.
Baffled, Karl took a look for himself and was truly horrified by what he saw before confronting Susan on the matter, asking her to explain.
Taken aback by his discovery, Susan revealed that she’d spent thousands on luxurious items for herself, believing that she’s entitled to such things following her payout after working hard her entire life.
Karl agreed, but was keen to know why she had kept it from him.
In heated scenes, Susan explained that, despite two years having passed, she still holds resentment towards Karl for the financial situation he got them into when he invested thousands in corrupt Montana Marcel’s make-up range.

‘I left my job!’, she exclaimed, filling in the blanks for what happened after the investment. ‘I sacrificed my future. I gave away who I am – my very identity – and I blame you!’.
Karl was devastated by the news. Can he and Susan get back on the same page? Will Susan be able to move past this?
Or is this truly the end for Ramsay Street’s finest pairing?
