Tattoo ‘addict’ mum who gets 3 tattoos a week is called ‘freak’ in front of kids

A tattoo 'addict' mum who gets three inkings a week has shared that she is cruelly branded a ‘freak’ in public in front of her two young children.

Melissa Sloan, who lives in Wales, is no stranger to getting attention over her looks – and they are usually the unwarranted kind.

The 45-year-old has spent decades under the needle – as she's been getting inked since was 20. But the more she gets, the more difficult life is for her.

Previously, she told Daily Star that she cannot get a job because of her tattoos. Despite having a job cleaning toilets in the past, Melissa can't get another gig as potential employers cannot see past her heavily inked face.

And as well as having issues finding work, the mum often feels outcast by society because of her appearance.

Melissa has opened up about how she is treated when she steps foot outside the door. And, she is even publicly scrutinised in front of her young kids – who are eight and 10.

She exclusively told Daily Star: "It’s crazy. I went shopping the other day to get my kids' school clothes. It’s a nightmare.

“I walk through the town and they [the public] are staring and they point . I think what are they doing that for, what is the matter with them

“Worse, the more I have the more they think I’m a freak.

“They look at me and don’t know how to take my, I reckon. They jump out of the way and I think ‘what are you doing that for?’. It’s horrible."

Melissa admitted: “I don’t like going to the shops anymore, I’ll only go if I have to because it’s just a drama.

“The more [tattoos] you get on, they think I’m a freak.”

Sadly, her children pick up on the behaviour of others that is targeted towards their mum.

The body art enthusiast said: “The kids say ‘mum they’re looking at you’ and I say take no notice of them. They can pick it up though.

“People say [to me] 'are you a boy or are you a girl? You can’t get a job, she’s on benefits', the same things.

"I’ve heard it all before.

“They say my children will run away when they’re older, that’s heartbreaking.”

Despite Melissa’s children hearing and seeing how their mum is treated in public, it has not stopped their interest in tattoos.

The mum said her young kids like her inkings – and even play around with stick on temporary tattoos themselves .

She said: “They got some on their arms last night, they’ve got school so they will have to take them off.

"I tell them they’ll have better ones when they are older."

Previously, Melissa shared that she gets three 'prison style' inkings a week from her partner and even carries her tattoo gun around with her.

She admitted: “I have three tattoos a week.

“It’s like when you have a fag or a drink, you get addicted. I can’t stop it now, it's addictive, for me anyway. I just can’t stop it.

“I carry the [tattoo] gun around with me in the boot, I’ll get one in the car or anywhere.

“My boyfriend does them, he does my tattoos prison style.”
