Harris and Hoole is a British coffeehouse company wholly owned by Caffè Nero. The chain currently operates a mixture of standalone stores and more than 30 outlets in Tesco superstores.
Its portfolio of supermarket kiosks will be significantly reduced in the coming months as the contract between Tesco and Caffè Nero comes to an end.
A representative for the company said: “Harris and Hoole has a strong store opening and growth plan for 2023 and beyond, focused on standalone stores in locations which best appeal to our target customer market.
“Following the conclusion of our existing agreement with Tesco, both parties have decided to pursue separate strategies. The first of our new stores has already opened, with several more in the pipeline.”
All of the coffee chain’s Tesco locations will close in the coming months, with 19 going before the end of 2023.

The popular chain was launched in Tescos after an investment from the supermarket in 2012.
In 2016, Caffè Nero acquired the coffeehouse which has remained with the franchise ever since.
Its closure has come as a disappointment to some coffee fans, with one person writing online: “Gutted. So much better coffee than all the other chains. What a shame!”
