The ‘lazy girl’ blowdry is the easiest way to get a salon-finish in minutes

When it comes to your hair, there’s nothing quite like that fresh-out-the-salon blow dried look.

Big, bouncy and shiny, our hair always looks its best after a trip to our stylist, and we’ve spent many hours trying to recreate the look at home.

But trying to nail that salon-worthy blow out by yourself is tricker than it looks. From trying to work out where to hold your brush to aching arms and hours spent trying to perfect it, it’s not the easiest look to recreate, which is why we’re all for a lazy girl hack that makes it easier.

Yep, it’s official – we're in our lazy girl era, and TikTok is awash with hacks and tips for lazy blow drys, with videos like @sukhmanikhokhar's racking up thousands of views as people look for ways to get the style at home without the unnecessary arm workout.

Celebrity hairstylist Alicia Dobson is responsible for the glossy waves seen on everyone from Olivia Attwood to Helen Flanagan and Molly-Mae Hague, and she’s given us the low down on how you can get a gorgeous, bouncy blow dry in minutes, using nothing but your hair dryer and your hands.

To start with, take damp hair and dry it until it’s about 70-80% dry. Alicia recommends using the Bellisima Creativity 4 U Hairdryer, £149.99 here, as it has four innovatively shaped accessories and is designed with an ergonomic, lightweight shape that can be held from the back, making it easier to hold during your styling process – perfect for making your lazy girl blow dry even easier.

You could also use the Revlon Smoothstay Coconut Oil Hairdryer, £29.99 here, to help give your hair an extra boost of shine thanks to its coconut-oil infusion that leaves your locks looking sleek and glossy.

Once your hair is almost dry, section it into four segments, before taking one of your sections and curling it around your fingers. Grip the section, and holding the hair dryer over it blow dry it for around 10 seconds.

Let the curl drop, before scrunching it up and leaving it to set without the heat. You can use hair pins to clip the curl up, or simply hold it in place for a minute or two until the shape has set.

If you want some added volume, take two velcro rollers, like the Superdrug Large Thermo VelcroRollers, £4 here, and loosely roll one into your front strands or fringe and the other into the crown of your head, blasting them with hot air before removing them.

And voila – one celeb-worthy blow dry in minutes, without the aching arms.
