Nearly all celebrities have a favourite hobby, and sometimes it’s passed down to their equally famous children.

The exciting world of horse riding is just one of the pastimes enjoyed by the super famous and their offspring.

From ex England player Michael Owen‘s daughter Gemma, to Gisele Bundchen‘s 10-year-old daughter Vivian, a number of horse-mad kids seem to have inherited the passion from their parents.

But why else do they love to horse around? Perhaps it’s just for fun, or even to console them during challenging times, such as when Bella Hadid marked a return to equestrianism following a seven-year hiatus from the sport after being diagnosed with Lyme disease.

Here, FEMAIL reveals the celebrity offspring that can’t seem to get enough of horses…

Gemma Owen

Gemma Owen (pictured), 20, probably inherited the sport from her mother Louise, who spends her time rescuing retired racehorses

It’s clear that one of Gemma Owen’s biggest passions is horseback riding.

If the Love Island star and daughter of ex England football player Michael Owen isn’t beaming next to a horse, she’s probably competing in a horse riding competition.

Earlier this year, she was seen seen competing in a dressage competition at Vale View Equestrian in Leicestershire.

Her love for the sport was probably inherited from her mother Louise, who spends her time rescuing retired racehorses and also founded Manor House Stables in Cheshire around 2007, according to The Metro.

Speaking of her favourite pastime, the 20-year revealed: ‘I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11 years old.

‘I’ve travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions. I would say I’m very competitive.’

Gisele Bundchen’s daughter, Vivian

It seems Gisele Bundchen’s (pictured left) youngest daughter Vivian (pictured right), 10, has picked up her love for riding, when in an Instagram post she was captured cosying up to her mother during a fun ride

Age-defying supermodel Gisele Bundchen, 43, regularly takes to social media to show off her splendid family adventures with children Ben, 13 and Vivian, 10 – whom she shares with ex NFL star husband Tom Brady.

Of their many outings are scenic horseback rides which the Brazilian star embarks on either solo or with her kids.

And it seems her youngest Vivian, has also picked up the passion, when in an Instagram post she was captured cosying up to her mother during a fun ride.

In the image, the casually-dressed mother and daughter duo lean towards one another while riding their horses.

On another occasion, her mother branded her her ‘little horse lover’ as the two rode off into the sunset.

Ali Keating

Ali  Keating (pictured), the The 17-year-old daughter of singer Ronan Keating, has been working on her equestrian skills for years

A worthy member of the pony posse, just one look at Ali Keating’s Instagram page will tell you all you need to know about her horse obsession.

The 17-year-old daughter of singer Ronan Keating has been working on her equestrian skills for years, despite a serious fall from her beloved horse in 2018.

She suffered broken bones and had to be admitted to hospital for ‘hours’ of surgery.

Ali is now more dedicated to the sport than ever, and hopes to become Ireland’s next horse riding sensation by competing in the 2023 Longines Dublin Horse Show for the first time.

She was also recently named as an ambassador of equestrian clothing brand Tesoro Vita, under TRI Equestrian in Ireland.

Jennifer Gates

Jennifer Gates, 27, received her first taste of horseback riding at just six years old, when she started taking lessons with her best friend (Pictured: Jennifer competing in a horse show in North Salem, New York)

Jennifer, 27,  fell in love with horseback riding at a young age, and has kept the fire burning by marrying a fellow horse-rider – her husband, Nayel.

The super rich daughter of billionaire Bill Gates and his ex wife Melinda welcomed her first child with Nayel earlier this year, and no guesses as to whether their newborn will grow up to join the elite pony posse one day.

The new mother received her first taste of horseback riding at just six years old, when she started taking lessons with her best friend, according to Evergate Stables – the equestrian training facility she founded in 2017.

With the support of her parents, she started training as a showjumper and helped her team secure the silver medal at the 2016 North American Young Rider Championship and win the 2017 USEF U25 Series Championship.

The billionaire heiress has also competed against some of the world’s most elite equestrian daughters, including Eve Jobs (daughter of the late Steve Jobs), Jessica Springsteen (daughter of Bruce Springsteen), and Georgina Bloomberg (daughter of billionaire Michael Bloomberg).

Bella Hadid

Bella (pictured) was introduced to her love of horse riding at the tender age of three, around the same time she grew up on a horse ranch in Beverly Hills. It is likely she learnt to ride after watching her equestrienne mother, Yolanda

Before taking the modelling world by storm, Bella Hadid, 26, set her sights on taking her equestrian skills to new heights.

She was introduced to her love of horse riding at the tender age of three, around the same time she grew up on a horse ranch in Beverly Hills.

It’s possible she acquired her love for all things horses from her equestrienne mother, former model and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Hadid, 59, who has been riding for many years.

Growing up around horse stables, it was inevitable that Bella would take up the sport – which made it all the more crushing when she was forced to step away seven years ago, following a rough bout with Lyme disease.

Bella was a nationally ranked equestrienne who was trying to make the 2016 Olympic team when she was sidelined by the disease.

‘It was really emotional for me,’ she admitted to The Telegraph. ‘I thought I was going to ride horses for the rest of my life. But everything happens for a reason, that’s my motto now, and I’m so happy to be where I am.’

Bella has finally been able to return to competitive equestrian riding and looked totally at home on her horse in Florida back in March.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that is spread to humans by infected ticks. It causes symptoms including a circle or oval-shaped rash around a tick bite, which usually appears within four weeks of being bitten, but may take up to three months to show.

Some people also get flu-like symptoms in the days after being bitten, including a high temperature, a headache, muscle and joint pain and a loss of energy. And a few of those treated for Lyme disease continue to have symptoms, such as tiredness, aches and a loss of energy, that can last for years.

It’s not clear why some suffer from ongoing symptoms and there is no agreed treatment for the disease. People are advised to remove ticks safely and as soon as possible using tweezers.

Not all ticks carry the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, but infected ticks can be found across the UK. High risk areas include grassy and wooded areas in northern and southern England, as well as the Scottish Highlands.

Kendall Jenner

Horses have formed an integral part of Kendall Jenner’s (pictured) life, as she once revealed in 2018 that the animals were her ‘only friends’ in middle school

Famous model Kendall Jenner is well known for her love of horses, both as a rider and as a companion.

The 27-year-old owns a number of horses and even kicked off the new year with a scenic horse ride in Aspen.

Horses have formed an integral part of the star’s life as she once revealed in 2018 that the animals were her ‘only friends’ in middle school.

In a confessional on her old podcast Zaza World Radio, she added: ‘I would just sit with my horses and I’d go ride all day. I’m not kidding.

‘I’d ride from 8am to 8pm. I would ride all my trainer’s horses because I had nothing better to do during the summer.’

She also owns a $9,000 Hermès horse saddle and in 2021, she released three fragrances through her half-sister Kim Kardashian’s KKW company, which were ‘all inspired by my love of the outdoors and horseback riding.’

The star was also recently spotted in the saddle with her megastar boyfriend Bad Bunny, 29, as the two took turns riding horses and even rode one together at the Hidden Hills Equestrian Center in California in April.

Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt

Katherine Schwarzenegger (pictured) recently mentioned that horses bring her a sense of ‘happiness and calm’ and even remarked that ‘everyday should be World Animal Day’

Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt is another member of the pony posse that shares her passion with fans.

The 33-year-old daughter of Hollywood megastar Arnold Schwarzenegger, and wife to actor Chris Pratt can’t get enough of the hay-loving animals.

She recently mentioned that horses bring her a sense of ‘happiness and calm’ and even remarked that ‘everyday should be World Animal Day’.

Taking to Instagram, she said of her beloved horse Cinco: ‘My beautiful Cinco! Whenever I visit him lately, I think about how much of life he’s been through with me and how much of my life he has seen.

‘I’ve grown up with him, went to high school, college, experienced heartbreak and stepped into new roles.

‘I’ve shared moments with my whole family with Cinco, travelled to shows, met my husband (Cinco met him right away), got married and had a baby, and now she loves Cinco too. A little animal love already’.

Her famous father is also a keen horse lover, having spent time quarantining with a miniature horse named Whiskey, which he described as ‘therapeutic’, reports Fox 5.
