9 in 10 Brits say cocktails are needed to host an impressive dinner party
With the Christmas holiday fast approaching, many people will be entertaining friends and family and these cocktails are the perfect way to get the party started.
After all the frantic holiday cooking, gift buying, and travel, what better time to kick back by the fire with a deliciously festive holiday cocktail?
Mulled wine, eggnog and Buck’s Fizz are some of the famous tipples at this time of year.
But there are many different Christmas-themed drinks to enjoy during the holidays – experts have revealed three of the top ingredients to add a festive twist to your favourite cocktails.
Experts at NIO Cocktails shared three seasonal ingredients to include…
Gingerbread
A spokesperson for the company said: “For a really unique take on vodka-based cocktails, gingerbread is a great option and lends well to the flavours of Christmas.
“In particular, the coffee aromas of an Espresso Martini pair well with gingerbread, as the nutmeg and cinnamon flavours complement the bitterness of the Espresso Martini, enhancing the taste of the coffee and allowing each sip to be extra smooth.
“Simply swirl a dash of gingerbread syrup around your martini glass before pouring in your cocktail, serving with roasted coffee beans on top for a final touch.”
Cranberries
Cranberries are another festive ingredient to have ready for your cocktails this year.
The spokesperson said: “Christmas is renowned for its cranberries and this fruit makes the perfect addition to gin-based cocktails.
“The tart taste of the cranberries will compliment the aromatic flavours of gin, to really enhance the flavour of your gin-based cocktail.
“A top tip here would be to use the cranberries as additional ice cubes, freezing the berries overnight and sprinkling in your cocktail before serving.”

Spiced Apple Cider
Spiced apple cider is another key ingredient to have stocked up for the festive period, according to the experts.
The spokesperson said: “Spiced apple is a key flavour for the Christmas months, and it’s a great ingredient to add to rum-based cocktails , especially cocktails that use a spiced rum.
“The sweetness of the apple works well with the warm aromas of rum, balancing out the overall flavour for the perfect sip.
“Simply pour apple cider syrup around your chosen glass, pour in your cocktail and garnish with slices of freshly cut apple for a true festive tipple.”
