It’s not unusual for children to get a little bit jealous when their mother is expecting another baby – and for one sibling in the US, it all got a bit too much when he met his younger brother.

When Florida resident Alex Serraes, known by the same handle on TikTok, introduced her middle son to his baby brother for the first time, he wasn’t particularly pleased.

The five second clip, which has reached 2 million views in the platform, showed the brothers sat on a white hospital bed.

Blonde Benjamin sits on the bed wearing a black t-shirt with the label ‘middle child’ in white font while newborn Theo, who sported a beige hat adorned similar kit, with his top saying ‘little bro’.

The adorable middle child, who was 20 months old at the time of the clip, pushed his little brother Theo away – and it appears the newborn can feel the rejection as he begins to stir.

Mother-of-three Alex also has another son, Luke – and regularly posts mothering content on the platform – where she documented Benjamin’s journey when he was her beloved newborn.

Third-grade teacher Alex, 30, told Today she was surprised her son was reacting so well to Theo’s arrival – but then she caught the hilarious push on camera which proved he wasn’t quite as cool about the new arrival as he may have seemed at first.

She said: ‘I think part of it is Benjamin didn’t realize what was in my belly. Even when he walked into the hospital room, he didn’t notice the baby.

‘He hadn’t seen me and his dad in two days and he was so excited. Then he saw Theo and was like, ‘What is happening?”

Hundreds took to the comments to express their fondness for the ‘neglected’ middle child.

Some related: ‘I am a middle child [and] haven’t liked my little sister since day one. I am 57 years old and STILL don’t like her!’

And other parents experienced similar: ‘My 6-year-old thoughtfully looking at his newborn brother asking, “Is he going back?”‘

Another mother chimed in: ‘My daughter was the same way’ while one user joked: ‘Return to sender!’

TikTok users were quick to relay their affection for Benjamin, since he has become middle child

In a recent TikTok, the teacher officially updated her 20,000 followers on her family-of-five, and the clip concludes with once-envious middle child Benjamin kissing his baby brother Theo on the head.

In a surprising turn of events, it seems that Benjamin has taken a new liking to his younger brother.

Alex told Today he is now ‘obsessed’ with little Theo but still craves more of his parents’ attention.

She said: ‘He’s been doing things to get attention lately. Like he’ll climb up on our tables and start dancing or yelling at the top of his lungs’, the 30-year-old revealed.
