This Summer, it will be 42 years since Princess Diana first married into the most famous family in the world.
However it was her own family – the Spencers – that took centre stage this weekend, as her niece Lady Amelia tied the knot with her beau of 14 years, Greg Mallett.
Amelia and Greg recently teased that their nuptials were imminent in a sweet snap of them together shared to Instagram a few days ago.
In the photo, Amelia lovingly looked at her then-fiancé as the pair teased: “Not long now…”
It’s thought the pair tied the knot just a few days later, and were surrounded by their nearest and dearest for their special day, including Amelia’s father Charles Spencer – Diana’s younger brother – and her twin sister, Eliza.
Amelia is just one of Charles’ seven children, with three of her siblings shared with his first wife Victoria Lockwood, two shared with his second wife, Caroline Freud, and the youngest, shared with his current wife Countess Karen Spencer.
Here, we take a closer look at each of them.
Lady Kitty Spencer
Kitty is Earl Spencer’s eldest child, having been born in 1990, 7 years prior to her aunt Princess Diana’s death.
Born and raised in South Africa, Kitty enjoys a strong relationship with her mother Victoria and shares her feel interest in both psychology and fashion.
Educated at the University of Cape Town, Kitty balanced her studies with her own blossoming career in modelling and has even modelled for famous brands such as Dolce & Gabbana and Bvlgari.
She tied the knot in 2021, when she married a wealth father-of-three, Michael Lewis, 64, in a lavish ceremony that took place in Rome.
As part of the elaborate ceremony, Kitty wore a number of dresses by Dolce and Gabbana, with her main dress reported to have taken over six months to create.
Since Kitty is the eldest child of Earl Spencer, many fans can be forgiven for thinking that upon his death she will inherit his title.
While the rules of accession have changed for members of the royal family, so that sons and daughters can now inherit the throne equally, the rule has not been extended to peers, such as dukes and earls.
This means that when Charles Spencer passes away, his title as Earl will pass to his eldest son Louis, rather than Lady Kitty, his eldest child.
Lady Amelia & Lady Eliza Spencer
Born in 1992, the next oldest children of Charles, are twins Lady Amelia and Lady Eliza.
Just like their older sister, the duo grew up in South Africa and were both educated there, while preferring to remain out of the usual royal spotlight.
Despite remaining relatively private, the twins attended Prince William ’s wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011 alongside their other siblings, however in a curious twist, only Eliza attended the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle in 2018, with Lady Amelia conspicuously absent from the proceedings.
Away from royal celebrations and socialite life, Lady Amelia began a relationship with Greg Mallett all the way back in 2009, with the pair later getting engaged in 2020, before tying the knot in 2023.
Lady Eliza has also been in a long term relationship with her partner Channing Millard for seven years, with the couple celebrating their anniversary just days before her twin sister’s nuptials.
Although the twins were just five years old at the time of their aunt’s death back in 1997, both Eliza and Amelia previously reflected on their fond memories of their "incredibly warm, maternal and loving" aunt in a rare joint interview with Tatler.
Speaking about Diana's death in 1997, Eliza said: "As a child, I realised the enormity of the loss for my father and family.
"It was only later that I came to understand the significance of the loss of her as a figure in the world.
"We always just knew her as our aunt. Growing up in South Africa, I really had very little idea of how significant she was in the world until I was much older."
Louis Spencer Viscount Althorp
Charles’ oldest son is Louis Spencer, who was born in 1994 and is the last of his children to be born to his first wife, Victoria Lockwood.
Throughout much of his teenage years and early twenties, Louis was dubbed ‘the world’s most eligible bachelor’ and has even been previously likened to his cousin Prince Harry.
Although several years junior to the Princes, Louis still maintains a close bond with them, and has been spotted at numerous outings with them over the years.
Described as “super private” by nature, the 29 year old Viscount Althorp, will one day inherit the family’s 13,500 acre estate in Northamptonshire, as the current rules of succession mean that he is the heir apparent, despite having three older sisters.
This has never been an issue for his sisters however, as Lady Kitty previously admitted there was no bad blood between the siblings over it.
She said: ”We've grown up understanding that it's Louis to inherit, and Louis will do an incredible job.”
Edmund Charles Spencer
The eldest child from his relationship with second wife Caroline Freud, 18 year old Edmund leads a private and quiet life away from the public spotlight.
He began University in September 2022, after receiving A-level grades which far exceeded the ones predicted by his school.
Sharing a sweet message in celebration, proud dad Charles took to twitter to share his pride in his son’s accomplishment as he wrote: “I don’t normally bore people about my children, but forgive me for being so very proud of my son, Ned, who got his A level results today: they were much better than his school predicted, and they mean he goes to his first choice of university. A reward for proper hard work!”
Lady Lara Spencer
Lady Lara is the second child that Earl Spencer shares with his second wife Caroline and was born in the
Now aged 17, the youngster lives with her mum out of the limelight and is currently hard at work studying for her exams.
Lady Charlotte Diana Spencer
The youngest of the Earl’s children, and his only child with his this wife Karen Spencer, is Lady Charlotte Spencer, who at the age of just 10 years old, lives a quiet life away from the public spotlight.
In a tribute to her late aunt, the adorable youngster boasts the middle name Diana, in memory of the iconic Princess of Wales she sadly never got to meet.
