DEAR DEIDRE: EVERY month, my wife and I can barely pay our bills.
We both work – but while I am scrimping and saving, she is spending a fortune on her appearance.
Since we had our two children, she has been working part time and earns a lot less than me – but gets through twice as much.
I’m 31, she’s 32 and our children are aged three and 14 months.
Some months, I have to put bills on the credit card or borrow money from my dad, but you wouldn’t know this from my wife – who always looks a million dollars.
She gets her nails, eyelash extensions, hair and fake tan done every month and then there’s all her Botox sessions on top of that.

Meanwhile, I shave my own hair instead of going to the barber’s and barely buy myself any new clothes. I’ve also given up smoking and hardly drink any alcohol these days.
I feel like I’m sacrificing everything and yet my wife keeps on splashing the cash, regardless.
I’m working so hard every month, just to be in debt.
It’s so depressing and I don’t feel like my wife is helping at all. In fact, her spending habits are getting us more and more in debt.
Our financial situation is stressing me out and I feel as if I’m letting down my family.
My wife pays for food, and our council tax, out of her salary but I pay for everything else.
I’ve asked her to pay for more things but she has been refusing to shift on this.

Should I tell my girlfriend I cheated when I know it’ll break her heart?
DEIDRE SAYS: Many people are struggling at the moment because of the cost-of-living crisis, so please don’t feel that you are letting your family down.
You are working hard and doing everything for your family.
Please talk to your wife about how worried you are. Let her know you feel under immense pressure, and need her help.
Ask her to sit down with you and sort out your finances in a way which is fair to you both.
It would be fairer if you both put your salaries into one account and paid all your bills and essentials – food, toiletries and so on – out of that shared pot.
Then any funds that are left over you could split equally for luxuries.
I’m sending you my support pack Family Finances to help.
