Wildlife photographer James Gregory was equally enamoured by his shot after training his lens on the trio of young.
The 39-year-old, who snapped it on farmland near York, said: “It was really funny watching three young kestrel chicks playing, chasing after each other.
“They seemed to be showing off their flying ability to each other, trying to see who was the best.
“Then they would chase the others into the next field.”
James, from Cleethorpes, added: “My favourite picture was one recently fledged kestrel testing its wings out, contorting itself into some interesting poses.”
