Lu said: ‘As I was growing older, I started to realise I’d been losing myself for more than 25 years after constantly putting my family first.
‘It’d be the same old boring routine every day; I’d drop my son off at school, go to work, come home, and make tea, and then do the same thing again and again.
‘I decided to start doing more things for me and started to find more confidence within myself to show off my body a bit more.
‘I attended a vagina therapy session which is something I never thought I’d do, but when you go through the menopause, your sex drive just drops or becomes non-existent because of the all the changes.
‘Attending those sessions really opened my eyes to the changes in my body, and what I could do to help my sex life and the whole experience made me feel incredibly powerful.
‘Unfortunately, as I was finding myself, my ex-partner and I kind of drifted apart and we ended up getting a divorce in 2021.’
Since coming out of the menopause, Lu has ben able to focus more on herself and her business, helping women look great in vintage clothes

Lu has also navigated the difficulties of sex post menopause and even hands out free sex toys to older women at her talks
Following her divorce, Lu, who currently lives in an RV in Tennessee, continued her journey into finding herself, and came to terms with the changes her menopause bought.
She began to share her new-found confidence and positivity on social media at @LuinLuLuLand, taking part in scandalous shoots and inspirational videos for older women.
She also embraced her fashion for vintage clothes, turning it into a business.
She said: ‘I’ve always been a shopaholic, and I absolutely love vintage clothes, so I started buying more and more outrageous pieces which, being a Vicar’s daughter, just felt so freeing and rebellious, despite being a grown woman.
‘I even turned it into a little business, where women could rent the vintage clothes I bought, and I could help them style their outfits.
‘It felt so empowering to see women in a similar situation to mine find confidence in clothes they’d never imagined wearing.’

She says her van is now so recognisable, older women often just knock on the door and ask her for advice
Following the Covid pandemic, Lu also decided to take her story of self-love and post-menopause empowerment on tour.
She found an RV and deck it out in bright pinks and greens – naming her Suzie – before embarking on her travels across the US.
She continued: ‘Since June I’ve been giving motivational speeches to women going through the menopause, as well as handing out sex toys from my sponsors, which is fun.
‘Being on the road has been so freeing, and because my Suzie is so recognisable, I’ve had a stream of women knocking on my door for advice everywhere I’ve been.
‘I’ve been able to preach about everything from self-love and masturbation to freedom fighting, even giving a few freebies to women along the way.’
Lu says a key piece of advice she gives to women post-menopause is to ‘remember it’s all about you’.
She added: ‘Don’t dread the menopause. We just need to talk about it more so women who are struggling don’t feel shame around asking for help.
‘It can be a transformative time of your life for the better.
‘No more periods, and no need to accommodate your body for someone else.
‘If you’ve had kids, they’re already adults now. It’s just about you and what you want.’
