You can get free food from Subway – but you’ll have to be willing to change name

Subway is hard to beat when it comes to a good sandwich.

Some may even say they could eat them for the rest of their lives.

And – for one person – this may just be possible.

The food giant is offering free Subs to a special person – all they need to do is be willing to change their name to Subway.

If you're keen on being called after a sandwich for the rest of your life then you're able to sign up at SubwayNameChange.com between August 1-4.

Someone will then be selected to take the plunge and undergo a huge re-brand.

The press release reads: "Subway will select one lucky winner to earn free sandwiches and assume an iconic new identity."

To be able to enter you need to be a legal resident of the United States and be at least 18 years old (19+ in Alabama and Nebraska and 21+ in Mississippi).

Once selected, the company will even pay for the winner's $750 (£583) legal fees to make it simple and "effortless to become Subway and enjoy a lifetime of delicious subs".

The recipient will then have four months to prove to the company they've changed their name before they can tuck into as many sandwiches as they like.

In the fine print you'll also see the prize is actually $50,000 (£38,900) in vouchers – that's a lot of Subways to snap up over the next few years.

Unsurprisingly, Subway is not a popular baby name, but a bucking trend could start after this.

It was only last year that Subway granted James Kunz a lifetime of free Subs after he got a foot-long baseball jersey-themed Subway Series logo tattoo.

Kunz told TODAY.com he was "kind of chunky" during his teens and turning to Subway helped him to adopt a healthier diet.

He said: "Because of that, I have kind of a brand loyalty.

"I said, ‘No, no, I’m totally serious about this. I love Subway, and I’d be pumped to get this tattooed and get Subway for life', and so I went for it.

"And I’m super glad I went for it. It was a total blast."
