HERE’S hoping our Trane can steam to another big win at York.
Stable legend COLTRANE (2.25) has been in fine form and tackles the Group 2 Lonsdale Cup.
He goes well at the track and gave us and his owners, Mick and Janice Mariscotti, a great day when winning the Melrose at this meeting a couple of years ago.
And he has gone from strength to strength since, developing into one of the best stayers in the country.
He has been in cracking form at home and he lost absolutely nothing in defeat when third behind Quickthorn in the Goodwood Cup last time.
That was a pretty eventful race, what with the winner getting a huge advantage early on, and nothing got involved from off the pace.
He probably should have finished second but paid the price late on for being the first to try and catch the runaway leader.
Quickthorn has won in that sort of fashion — opening up a big early lead and maintaining it — twice now, so I’m confident the jockeys won’t allow him the same rope today.
He will ensure a good gallop, which will suit our horse, and he goes on any ground.
He deserves to get his head back in front and he will be bang there at the finish.

This 16-1 chance for a trainer who loves York looks a huge danger
NYMPHADORA (3.35) goes in the Nunthorpe and it wouldn’t surprise me if she ran well at a big price.
She was an impressive winner of a Listed race over the same course and distance last month, quickening up impressively to win by a couple of lengths.
She wasn’t at her best at Goodwood but she has bounced back from below-par efforts in the past.
It was great to get SISYPHUS STRENGTH (4.10) back in winning form at Newmarket last time.
She is 6lbs higher today but she won pretty easily last time, so if she runs to the same sort of level she will be in the mix.
CASTLE IN THE SAND (4.45) showed plenty on his debut, when I’m not sure he loved soft ground.
He is well-related and goes well at home, so we expect him to run well in this very valuable maiden.
And GLENFINNAN (5.15) will be happier on a sounder surface having struggled at Goodwood. He has a nice each-way chance.
