British tennis legend Andy Murray has vowed to ‘keep pushing’ after he won the Surbiton Trophy on Sunday.
Murray, 36, beat Jurij Rodionov in straight sets to become the oldest grass-court champion in ATP Challenger history.
It marks the second ATP Challenger title Murray has won in 2023 after he lifted the trophy at the clay-court Open du Pays d’Aix in May.
Both tournaments are one level below the ATP Tour but it is a huge boost to Murray ahead of Wimbledon next month.
‘It’s great to win [on home soil] – obviously we don’t get too many chances and these grass-court tournaments aren’t easy ones to win,’ Murray said.
‘But it’s brilliant to win another one and my kids are always asking me when I go away if I am going to come home with a trophy – and it’s been rare over the last few years!
‘They actually came two minutes before the rain started and my wife had to take them back home so they missed the end of the match but I think they watched it on TV so Sophia, Edie, Teddy and Lola, I hope you’re watching and I’ll bring you all a trophy tonight.

‘Today was a good win for me, Jurij has played brilliantly this whole week, had a great tournament and won all of his matches very comfortably.
‘He started the match really well today too so I was obviously happy to get through.
‘It’s been the perfect start to the grass season. I’ve chosen to come and play here and in Nottingham to hopefully get lots of matches under my belt so this week has been the perfect start.
‘The tournament did an amazing job. I am fully aware how difficult the tournament is to put on.
‘They’ve done a great job. The volunteers and everyone has looked after us.
‘The sponsors, we can’t do these tournaments without them. Thank you to the club for hosting us this week. It’s been brilliant. I would also like to thank my team. Let’s keep pushing for more.’
