Arsenal blow as ‘Monaco launch transfer bid for Brighton star Yves Bissouma to replace Liverpool target Tchouameni’

ARSENAL have been dealt a major blow in their bid to sign Brighton's Yves Bissouma.

The Mali international has impressed with his performances for the Seagulls over the last few seasons, with the Gunners one of many clubs interested in signing him.

However, Monaco could be about to deny Mikel Arteta his new central midfielder.

According to talkSPORT the Ligue 1 side are closely monitoring midfield options if they were forced to sell Aurelien Tchouameni.

The Frenchman has attracted interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs, with Premier League and Champions League runners up Liverpool interested.

The 22-year-old's £70million price tag may lead the starlet towards Real Madrid however, who are said to be happier with the price tag.

This imminent departure will lead Monaco to look to fill his void before next season starts, with Bissouma one of their realistic targets.

The 25-year-old helped lead his side to their highest finish ever in the English top flight.

However the lack of European football could tempt him away from the south coast.

And the Mali star's four year stay could be about to come to an end, with Arsenal one of a number of suitors poised to miss out.

The Gunners' interest in a central midfielder has been well documented, with Leicester City's Youri Tielemans a well-known target.
