Arsenal news LIVE: Ivan Toney's £100m price tag, Gunners go crashing OUT of Carabao Cup, Thomas Partey 'interest' | The Sun

ARSENAL have been told they have to pay £100million if they want to secure the services of Brentford star Ivan Toney this summer.

Sky Sports say the Bees value the once-capped star in the same bracket as Europe's elite hitman because of his goalscoring consistency.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are out of this season's Carabao Cup after suffering a shock 3-1 defeat to West Ham.

And elsewhere, Thomas Partey is reportedly attracting interest from Italian giants Juventus.

Rice mocked by West Ham fans

Declan Rice was mocked by West Ham fans last night as Arsenal exited the Carabao Cup in the 4th round.

Sagna still backing City for the title

Former Arsenal and Manchester City full-back Bacary Sagna insists Manchester City are still the favourites for the title despite impressive starts by Spurs and Arsenal.

He told Genting Casino: "Manchester City are still the team to beat if you want to become English champions. I expect them to climb the table and get into first position over the next few weeks. Manchester City have two squads. Every player that comes into the team is performing at a very high level.

Manchester City got off to a slow start to the season after winning the treble. They had a slow start because City played more games than any other team in the Premier League last season. The City players had a longer holiday, so pre-season started a little bit later with the first team squad. Now they are finding their way. They are starting to show with their performances on the pitch why Manchester City are the best team in the world.

Brentford view Arsenal target Ivan Toney as a £100million player if he is to go in January.

Senior players weren't there to send a message – Arteta

Mikel Arteta has said that the players sent on to rescue the game for Arsenal last night were brought on not to send a message but to salvage a result for Arsenal.

He said: "There are no messages to send. Whatever messages we send, we send them with words, we don’t have to send them in a different way.

"We have tried to put out the team that we believed was the best to try to compete today in the right way to start the game & the game took a different direction obviously because of the first goal, but after that, we still have to see much more from the team to earn the right to win in a place like this."

    More frustration for Smith Rowe

Mikel Arteta has provided an injury update on Emile Smith Rowe and it's not good news for Arsenal fans.

The manager said: “He’s got an injury in his knee & he’s going to be out for weeks.”

Smith Rowe only returned to the Arsenal starting line-up last weekend after missing much of the previous season with injury.

    Ivan Toney asking price

Arsenal have received a significant transfer blow in their bid to sign Brentford star Ivan Toney in the January transfer window.

That is because the Bees rate Toney at £100milion and also aim to keep him until at least the summer.

The striker's eight-month ban for betting offences ends on January 16 – just as he enters the last 18 months of his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium.

According to Sky Sports, Brentford value the England international in the same bracket as Europe's elite hitmen because of his goalscoring prowess.

And it's thought the 27-year-old's admirers, such as the Gunners and Chelsea, are weighing up bids of "only" around £50m-£60m.

    Gabriel Jesus injury update

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta refuses to put a timescale on Gabriel Jesus' return from injury but revealed he is "already pushing" for a swift comeback.

With him, I'm not going to put a [timescale] on it because I did it once and got it totally wrong.

We need to be cautious, treat it in the right way, but he is already pushing.

He wants to be back as quick as possible and we need him, so that's great.

    David Moyes speaks out

West Ham manager David Moyes reckons his side is becoming “quite a good cup team” after their dominant 3-1 win over Arsenal.

A solid team performance. I thought the forward players did a really good job.

Then good defensive organisation and shape. I thought for the most of it we coped well.

Maybe we’re becoming quite a good cup team. I want to be a good league team.

You don’t get any trophies for [this win tonight] but you can only take the game and see what’s going to come next. The draws are hugely important.

    Mikel Arteta reacts

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta took responsibility for the 3-1 loss to West Ham at London Stadium.

I’m very disappointed. I am responsible for that, we’re out of the cup and we wanted to play a very different game.

We wanted to compete in a game like this, which we discussed for 48 hours, in a very different way.

The game took a direction because of the first goal and we can discuss that but we have to see much more from the team to earn a result at a place like here.

If there is VAR there’s no [first] goal, that’s for sure. I understand it’s difficult for the referees because of the angle and the amount of people there.

I don’t want to use that as an excuse but that takes something in the game that is very important which is momentum.

    Only Zi best

Arsenal are battling with Chelsea and Real Madrid to sign Shamrock Rovers wonderkid Naj Razi.

Razi, 17, has featured five times this term for the Hoops who will cap off their title winning campaign this week as they host Sligo Rovers at Tallaght Stadium.

The playmaker has also been representing Ireland's Under-17s since late 2022 and has now picked up 14 caps registering four goals and four assists.

Despite the lure of a move to a huge club like the Gunners, Real or the Blues it's understood that if Razi was to stay with Rovers he would have a much bigger part to play next season.

On top of the dilemma of game time there is also the issue surrounding a transfer to either Arsenal or Chelsea being blocked until 2025.

Since the UK's exit from the European Union, Premier League teams are unable to land players from abroad until they are at least 18 years old.

    Paul Pogba replacement

Juventus have plotted a transfer raid on Arsenal's Thomas Partey to replace Paul Pogba who is set to receive a lengthy ban.

Ex-Manchester United star Pogba will be serving a long-term suspension after anti-doping officials found traces of testosterone in his system.

Juve are desperate to replace the France international – especially after Nicolo Fagioli has also been banned for seven months over breaches of betting rules.

The Bianconeri are now down two midfielders for the remainder of the season with Partey being heavily linked with a transfer.

Having played only three games this season, the 30-year-old is frustrated with his poor fitness and limited playing time.

The report claims the Ghana international is keen on first-team football and Juventus are eyeing up a loan deal for as early as the January transfer window.

    Wenger's Prem title prediction

Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger is sensationally backing Tottenham to lead the Premier League title charge this season.

If I said after ten games they’d be top of the league… You ask me and it’s not a tricky question because I like to always say what I feel.

Deeply, I believe Tottenham will be one of the contenders for the league.

They bought James Maddison, who is a great player. He is that link from low midfield to high midfield and added some technical creativity to the team.

They bought Micky van de Ven, who I find absolutely exceptional. They had weaknesses there and last season Hugo Lloris didn’t have the best of seasons.

And the movement from Son Heung-Min into the middle looks very good.

    Keep in mind

Arsenal fans are adamant manager Mikel Arteta needs to make an important change to his starting line-up.

The Gunners' boss has insisted on starting Brentford loanee David Raya between the sticks throughout the season.

However, the North Londoners' supporters insist Arteta should instead reintegrate Aaron Ramsdale as his No1.

This comes after Ramsdale finished eighth in the shortlist for the Yashin Trophy during the Ballon d'Or awards.

The prestigious award, which is named after legendary goalkeeper Lev Yashin, honours the best keeper in the world each year.

And the England international finished ahead of the likes of Lens' Brice Samba and AC Milan's Mike Maignan, while Raya wasn't even on the list.

    Arsene Wenger's rejections

Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger says he rejected four lucrative offers to leave the Emirates for Real Madrid and Barcelona.

But the Frenchman always remained loyal to the Gunners, even when his own fans demanded his exit.

Wenger told beIN Sports: “Real Madrid, two or three times.

    “And Barcelona, yes once.”
