Arsenal outcast Rob Holding wanted in permanent transfer but club submit measly bid for star | The Sun

ARSENAL have reportedly rejected a measly bid from Besiktas for Rob Holding.

The defender is in the last 12 months of his contract with an option for another year at the Emirates and could be available to interested clubs.

However, clubs will have to bid significantly more than the Turkish side if they are to agree a deal with the Gunners.

According to The Athletic, Besiktas offered the Premier League side £2.1million for the defender.

The offer has been deemed "far below" what Arsenal would consider to accept.

Holding, 27, made 14 appearances in the league last season and is set to fall further down the pecking order with the imminent arrivals of Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice.

He came into the team following William Saliba's season-ending back injury in March.

The former Bolton prospect was not included in Mikel Arteta's squad for Arsenal's pre-season friendly against Nurnberg.

The match ended 1-1 as Bukayo Saka's curling effort was cancelled out by an own-goal by Jorginho.

He did feature in the behind-closed-doors clash against Watford earlier this month and even wore the captain's armband during the match.

The Arsenal squad are now set to fly out for their pre-season tour of the USA on Sunday.

Besiktas are also said to be interested in former Leicester City ace Daniel Amartey, 28.

The defender is currently a free agent following the expiry of his contract at the King Power Stadium.

The outlet claims that he is "close to reaching an agreement" with the club over a three-year contract.
