ATLETICO MADRID goalkeeper Antonio Gomis certainly will never forget his debut.
The 19-year-old was handed his maiden appearance for Diego Simeone’s side on Wednesday as they thumped Numancia 4-0 in a friendly.
Goals from Thomas Lemar, Angel Correa, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Matheus Cuha fired them to victory.
However, it will not be the result or even the clean sheet that will live long in the memory for Gomis.
The star, who is goalie for Atletico’s B team, was given the nod to make his bow off the bench with 76 minutes on the clock.
However, amazingly he was brought on OUTFIELD rather than between the sticks by Simeone.

There have been numerous goalkeepers – from Mexican great Jorge Campos to Paraguayan Jose Luis Chilvaret – who have been equally as good at scoring goals as saving them.
But Gomis’ experience of actually making your senior debut out of position outfield is certainly one that is few and far between.

However, it is not completely unique.
Back in 2016, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were also in a similar position to Atletico during a friendly.
And that led to keeper Shamal George, now 24 and playing for Livingston, coming off the bench to occupy an outfield position due to no other players being left available.
