Axel Tuanzebe forced to quit Man Utd pre-season tour with 'personal issue' as Ten Hag calls up youngster to replace him | The Sun

AXEL TUANZEBE has been forced to leave Manchester United's pre-season tour with a "personal issue".

The 24-year-old flew out to Thailand with his team-mates last week, but didn't feature in yesterday's 4-0 victory over Liverpool in Bangkok.

According to the MEN's Samuel Lockhurst, Tuanzebe has returned home to deal with a "small personal issue".

In his place, boss Erik ten Hag has decided to call up youngster WIll Fish.

The 19-year-old will join up with United for the Australia leg of their tour.

Tuanzebe hasn't featured for the Red Devils' first team since the 2021 Europa League final.

He was then a regular for United's Under-23 side in the latter stages of the campaign.

A centre-back by trade, Fish has featured for England at youth level.

He trained with United's first team earlier this month, prior to them flying out to Thailand.

Ten Hag, 52, started with Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof at the back against Liverpool yesterday.

Eric Bailly replaced Varane from the bench, while Alex Telles had to fillin at centre-back after coming on for Lindelof.

Harry Maguire was unavailable for the match with a minor injury, while Phil Jones is following an individual training programme.

Fish will hope to grab some valuable first team minutes in Australia.
