Man City vs Real Madrid betting tips
Is this finally the year for Manchester City?
Recent form certainly suggest so with Pep Guardiola's side in simply incredible form. The Citizens are unbeaten in 22 matches in all competitions, and look certain to collect their fifth Premier League title in six years.
After last week's tense 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu, it's safe to assume that it's advantage City heading into this week's all-important second leg.
Of course, Guardiola and co. have been reminded time and again of Madrid's remarkable second-leg comeback in last year's competition — but that clash was in Spain.
This time the second leg takes place at the Etihad Stadium, where the home side are on a 14-match unbeaten run with a combined score of 49-7.
Furthermore, Real Madrid have only twice progressed on the nine previous occasions they failed to win the first leg of a Champions League knockout tie at home.
Big win…
As mentioned, Manchester City have been irresistible of late, and they have been particularly ruthless in the Champions League knockout stages on home turf.
The Citizens scored SEVEN against RB Leipzig in the round of 16, before killing the tie against Bayern Munich with a 3-0 win at the Etihad.
Guardiola's side have shown so much guile and experience in this season's competition, and it's looking increasingly like all their heartbreak in previous years will propel them to the ultimate prize.
Guardiola knows his best team now so the days of throwing a tactical curveball, which often did not work, in a game like this seem a thing of the past.
This could be teed up for a heavy home win, especially considering Real have shipped six goals to Girona and Real Sociedad in their last two away fixtures.
- Our tip: Manchester City to win -3 at 17/2 with William Hill
At the double…
Erling Haaland will make his presence felt tonight. No ifs, ands, or buts.
The Norwegian international has broken just about every record in the book this season having scored 52 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions.
He's fired in 12 in the Champions League including two braces and FIVE against RB Leipzig. Interestingly, 75% of those have been at home. He's scored 2+ goals at the Etihad on NINE occasions this term.
Given we think Manchester City will steamroll Real Madrid tonight, we're backing the centre-forward to fill his boots.
- Our tip: Erling Haaland to score 2+ goals at 16/5 with William Hill
Bookings galore…
The first leg was tasty to say the least with the normally composed Carlo Ancelotti receiving a yellow card for his protest of Kevin De Bruyne's equaliser.
Portugal's Artur Dias dished out four cautions in a match that contained 22 fouls in total. In fact, there have been 14 yellow cards in the last three meetings between these sides.
With the final within touching distance for both sides, expect tactical fouls aplenty and toys to be thrown out of the pram – especially in the latter stages.
Szymon Marciniak will oversee things, and the Polish referee loves a card having dished out 136 in 29 matches this season, which equates to 4.6 cards per match.
- Our tip: Real Madrid to be shown over 3 cards at 2/1 with William Hill
