Manchester United vs Chelsea betting tips

It's safe to assume Manchester United will be far more motivated than Chelsea when the pair clash on Thursday.

Having beaten Bournemouth, the Red Devils need just one point from their final two games against Chelsea and Fulham to secure Champions League football at Old Trafford next season.

It's an entirely different story for 12th-placed Chelsea, who can finish no higher than 11th and no lower than 13th after a truly disastrous campaign.

But Erik ten Hag will not underestimate Chelsea.

The Dutchman will dearly want to complete a top-four finish on the night rather than endure a tense clash with Fulham on the final day of the season.

Ten Hag also has an FA Cup final against arch-rivals Manchester City to prepare for at Wembley Stadium on 3 June — a trophy that would see him land a domestic double in his first foray into the Premier League.

Big win…

Manchester United should win this, comfortably. As mentioned, the Red Devils will field a strong starting XI and are motivated by the prospect of Champions League football next season.

Erik ten Hag's side have won their last two matches against Wolves and Bournemouth, keeping two clean sheets.

Many will point to the fact United have only scored three goals in their last four games, but it's not for want of trying.

They've had a total of 47 attempts on goal in the last 180 minutes, which is more than Manchester City and Leicester combined. They've averaged a chance every 4.1 minutes and no side has had more efforts on target.

Chelsea have managed just a single clean sheet in their last ten, and have shipped 2+ goals in 6 of their last eight.

  • Our tip: Manchester United to win -1 at 8/5 with William Hill

Booked…

Conor Gallagher is favourite to be booked on Thursday, and there's very good reason for that. The player has committed nine fouls over the last four matches, which is four more than any other Chelsea player.

The England midfielder, 23, has racked up 12 yellows and one red in 43 appearances for Chelsea this season. And though this can be considered a dead rubber for the Blues, Gallagher is playing for his future at Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher has played against United four times in his career, and he's picked up two cautions. Referee Stuart Attwell is in charge on Thursday, and he's already booked Gallagher this season.

  • Our tip: Conor Gallagher to be booked at 17/10 with William Hill

Punt…

Christian Eriksen has enjoyed his return to the starting XI, and it's no coincidence that his involvement has seen more positive results.

The Denmark international was known for his free-kicks and long-ranger efforts. It's been a while since he struck one of those, but perhaps it's not long until he changes that.

The 31-year-old is fourth for efforts at goal in the Manchester United squad, trailing only Marcus Rashford, Antony and Bruno Fernandes. He's had nine attempts in the last three matches with SIX of those from outside the penalty area.

  • Our tip: Christian Eriksen to score from outside the penalty area at 11/1 with William Hill
