Manchester United vs Wolves betting tips

Manchester United are back in action as they look to see off a late charge from Liverpool for that all-important Champions League spot.

The Red Devils looked to have European qualification wrapped up a few weeks ago, but the landscape has changed dramatically after successive 1-0 defeats to Brighton and West Ham.

Erik ten Hag's side are in fourth position, but they lead Liverpool by just a single point having played a match less than their Merseyside rivals, who have won their last six on the bounce.

The Dutch manager gave his players two days off to recuperate after 11 matches in 38 days since the beginning of April. Three points would go a long way to securing a top-four finish, ahead of clashes with Bournemouth, Chelsea and Fulham.

Things are rather more relaxed for Wolves, who mathematically secured their Premier League status for another campaign.

Julen Lopetegui's side have been difficult to predict in recent weeks having been swept aside 6-0 at Brighton a few days before beating rivals Aston Villa at Molineux.

The visitors have only won once at Old Trafford in their last 14 attempts stretching back to 1980, but that win came last season. Confidence will be high and pressure will be low — that could be a dangerous mix for the hosts.

Normal service…

On paper, Manchester United aren't in good form. The Red Devils have taken no points against Brighton and West Ham away from Old Trafford, but there have been some encouraging signs.

United have had 35 efforts on goal in their last two matches with only Brighton having had more (45). They have averaged a shot at goal every 5.7 minutes with nine on target in 180 minutes.

Wolves, meanwhile, have conceded 38 shot on target in their last two outings and only Leeds and Nottingham Forest have taken less points away from home this season.

Wolves' motivation could be questionable at best, and they have registered just one away win this calendar year (L6, D4, W1).

Like a rash…

If Manchester United are going to score, the chances are Marcus Rashford will be the one celebrating.

Things have gone dry for the England international, who couldn't stop scoring following the World Cup break. But it's not for want of trying.

Rashford, 25, has had 10 efforts on goal in the last two games, which is more than any other player in the Manchester United squad, with a shot every 18 minutes.

The player has made three starts against Wolves (seven appearances in total), and he's netted in three of those — twice as the first goalscorer.

  • Our tip: Marcus Rashford first goalscorer at 10/3 with William Hill

Booked…

Tyrell Malacia isn't afraid of a booking or two. In fact, the 23-year-old left-back has picked up five bookings in 20 appearances this season, with two in his last two starts.

Malacia has conceded nearly double the number of fouls in less minutes than any other United player over the last two game weeks. Furthermore, the majority of fouls won by Wolves have come down their right channel.

Referee John Brooks has dished out exactly try 100 cards in 27 games this season, meaning he's shown four cards per match. He's officiated Wolves twice this season, showing six yellows in both.

  • Our tip: Tyrell Malacia to be booked at 16/5 with William Hill
