BOBBY HOPE has died aged 78, former club West Brom have confirmed.
The Scot was a legendary figure at the Hawthorns, having helped the Baggies to League Cup and FA Cup successes in the late 1960s.
Hope, originally from Stirlingshire, also earned seven Scotland caps during a distinguished playing career.
In a statement mourning Hope's passing, his old club wrote: "West Bromwich Albion Football Club is devastated to learn of the passing of 1966 League Cup and 1968 FA Cup winner Bobby Hope.
"The thoughts of all at The Hawthorns are with Bobby's family and friends at this desperately sad time."
Hope debuted in West Brom's first team in 1960 after coming through the Midlands club's academy.

Playing as an inside forward, he went on to make 409 appearances before leaving for Birmingham in 1972.
He scored 42 goals for the club, helping them win the League Cup in 1966 and FA Cup in 1968.
Hope died peacefully yesterday.
After his time at the Hawthorns Hope would play for Birmingham for four years, also enjoying loan spells in the States with Philadelphia Atoms and Dallas Tornado.

In 1976 he joined Sheffield Wednesday, staying at Hillsborough for three years, with another two loan spells at Dallas in between.
Hope would join Bromsgrove Rovers in 1979, finishing his playing career there before taking over as manager in 1983.
After five years at the helm he took over at Burton Albion, before returning to Bromsgrove in 1989.
Following his time as a manager coming to an end in 1994, Hope returned to his beloved West Brom as a scout.
He went on to become the Baggies' chief scout in 2000.
In a statement, the West Brom former players association wrote: "It is with the greatest of sadness that we announce the death of a legend, Bobby Hope. He died peacefully yesterday.
"Our deepest condolences to Carole Adam, Jamie and grandchildren, sister Eleanor & friends.
"RIP we have lost a best mate and true friend."
