Bonkers Mason Mount stat shines spotlight on Man Utd transfer policy as fans ask 'how did Chelsea get £65m and upgrade?' | The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have been left scratching their heads after a bonkers Mason Mount stat emerged.

The midfielder left Chelsea for Old Trafford in a £65million move over the summer.

But Mount is yet to score or assist for the Red Devils.

And he has not even been available for all their matches, already missing six with a hamstring injury.

However, there’s no sign of a U-turn in form coming just yet.

That’s because Mount is yet to score or assist a Premier League goal this entire YEAR.

The bonkers stats show his huge dip in form dates all the way back to his Chelsea days.

For the whole of 2023, Mount has played just 17 games while missing 19 through injury.

Of those 17, he’s featured for just 930 minutes — the equivalent of only playing 10 matches.

And United fans are now questioning their club’s transfer policy after Erik ten Hag moved heaven and earth for a midfielder who can no longer get into his starting XI.

Indeed, many can’t believe Todd Boehly managed to finesse £65million out of the Red Devils.

That’s while “upgrading” on Mount to fellow academy star Conor Gallagher — and also paying just £42.5m for Man City’s Cole Palmer, who has four goals and two assists in 10 league outings for Chelsea.

One United fan said: “Mad how Chelsea got £65m and upgraded to Gallagher.”

Another declared: “Put him at left back.”

One noted: “Signing for United was a terrible decision. No clear fit for him, no continuity, and he was coming off a bad year needing to show he still has it.”

Another added: “Everything started going wrong once he got that hideous haircut along with Havertz.”
