Half time thoughts

Manchester City had been totally dominant for all but five minutes of that first half, but couldn’t find a finishing touch to their utter domination of possession.

Julian Alvarez had a couple of sniffs at goal, but it was Newcastle who spurned the best chance of the game – and their only shot on goal – as Jacob Murphy failed to convert when faced one-on-one with Ortega.

HALF TIME – Newcastle 0-0 Man City

Added time

They’ll be 1 minute of added time at St James’ Park.

Some life from Newcastle

Finally something for Newcastle fans to shout about.

Alvarez close again

It’s another gorgeous passing move from City, which eventually sees Alvarez in space on the left side of the box. The angle is far too tight though and his shot flashes across the face of goal.

Keep ball

It’s all Manchester City at the moment as they just pass the ball around Newcastle.

The Magpies can’t continue this way for the whole match.

Not a bad insurance policy to have in reserve.
