Champion female jockey Jamie Kah appears to ‘rack up line of white powder’ one day after announcing racing return | The Sun

SHOCK images appearing to show champion jockey Jamie Kah racking up a line of white powder have emerged just one day after she announced her racing return.

Her highly anticipated comeback following a devastating fall three months ago has been marred by the snaps sweeping social media.

The 27-year-old had announced she was back in the saddle and preparing to return to racing on Thursday, following a sickening pile-up where she smashed into the turf in March.

She spent a lengthy spell in hospital after suffering broken bones, a bleed on the brain and memory loss.

Kah this week revealed she "feels like she is back to herself" and was ready to return to her beloved sport – before the images began circulating on WhatsApp within the racing industry.

Photos of a gathering with pals including close friend and greyhound trainer Jacob Biddell were shared online.

In one image, Kah – wearing a grey robe and sporting white nail varnish – can be seen posing with her friends.

In another, her padded sleeve and manicured nails can be seen as she appears to rack up a line of a white substance using a plastic card.

According to reports, a small bag containing white powder can also be seen on a marble kitchen top in another snap.

After the images surfaced, Kah responded with a furious social media statement saying she was "so disappointed" by the narrative.

She wrote: "I am determined to focus on my health and recovery following my race fall in March which left me with a serious brain injury and being in hospital for three weeks.

"I am working hard to get back to doing what I love, and that is being a passionate and successful jockey.

"I will continue to focus on my physical and mental health and making a full recovery so I can return to racing and be the best person that I can possibly be. I won’t be making any further comment."

Racing Victoria chiefs said they were aware of the photos of the star jockey and were investigating.

A statement said: "The Stewards will be making enquiries of Jamie Kah to avail themselves of all the facts before considering whether any Rules of Racing have been breached."

Nine-time Group 1 winner Kah was one of the world's leading jockeys having swept all before her on the Australian racing circuit.

The pin-up girl of the sport, riding the best horses in the best races, has almost 1,200 career wins and more than £36million in prize money.

But a devastating fall with fellow champion Craig Williams at Flemington racecourse in March left her fighting for life.

Kah was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and placed in an induced coma due to her horrific injuries following the incident at the Sires Produce Stakes.

Her injuries were massive, including a broken foot, wrist, collarbone, ribs, finger and nose.

But it was the damage to her brain that was most concerning.

She suffered bleeding to the brain and simply would not come round when doctors tried to wake her.

Kah explained how when she was eventually roused by medics, she believed it was almost 10 years prior and that she was aged 18.

She told Channel 7: "I kept saying my address, which was my old address from back home in Adelaide.

"I could remember that, but they told me it was wrong, but I couldn't remember where I lived.

"I started to Google myself to put all the pieces together. It was like some sort of a movie.

"I couldn't remember how old I was, so I wrote my name and Google told me, I'm like, 'Oh, 27, not 18. There we go'.

"Lots of things came back after I Googled myself. I could see articles about what had happened in the race fall."

Kah's boyfriend and fellow jockey Ben Melham stayed by her side throughout her recovery.

But it was a rare trip outside to see one of her favourite horses that really made her feel better.

Alongside a photo of her posing alongside her horse Brax, Kah wrote: "Seeing Brax today was the best thing for me and my mushy brain.

"It's the only thing that has helped. Can't thank everyone for all their nice words and thoughts, you've been amazing.
