Chelsea leading transfer race for France wonderkid dubbed 'N'Golo Kante's little brother' but deal may hinge on Man Utd | The Sun

CHELSEA are reportedly set to make a move for a wonderkid striker who has been dubbed N’Golo Kante’s “little brother” – but Manchester United could have a huge impact on a potential deal.

Montpellier’s Elye Wahi has already attracted a number of admirers after his exploits in Ligue 1.

The 20-year-old Frenchman scored 19 goals and produced six assists during his breakthrough campaign.

And now there is mounting interest from across Europe, with both Arsenal and Tottenham previously linked with a swoop.

Now numerous reports from across the Channel are claiming that Chelsea are frontrunners in the race to sign him.

The Blues have held a long-term interest in the ace, having previously been keen on snapping him up when he was only 14.

These latest reports are also stating that Arsenal are still in the hunt as well for Wahi.

But L’Equipe states that it is Chelsea that are preparing a bid for the Montpellier man, who is under contract until 2025.

German club Frankfurt are also believed to be monitoring developments.

And they view the youngster as the ideal replacement for Randal Kolo Muani should United make a move to sign him.

Wahi’s comparison with Kante, who has just left Chelsea for a mega-money contract in Saudi Arabia, comes through them both hailing from the small Paris suburb of Courcouronnes.

And each started their football careers at the local amateur club JS Suresnes and, like Kante, he spent every spare second at their Maurice-Hubert stadium honing his skills.

Tragically both players lost their fathers early on in their lives – Kante’s dad died when the modest superstar was 11 and Wahi also lost his dad as a youngster.

Those similarities saw French news outlet Le Parisien dub Wahi as "Kante's little brother".
