CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN has verbally agreed to join Manchester United as a free agent.

The 30-year-old playmaker impressed after signing for Brentford on a short-term deal in January which sparked interest from a number of clubs.

The Bees had been hopeful of convincing Eriksen to stay in West London and had offered him a new deal.

He is set to pen a three-year deal at Old Trafford.

Eriksen is said to have informed United of his desire to join the club, with the midfielder now set for a medical.

His contract also needs to be finalised after agreeing to join the club in principle.

Tottenham had been rumoured to be interested in resigning Eriksen but after their interest cooled it has been a two-horse race between United and Brentford for his signature.

Eriksen is now set to join up with boss Erik ten Hag.

The playmaker worked with the United boss briefly when he trained with Ajax before making his comeback to football with the Bees earlier this year.

Eriksen played just 11 times for Brentford after penning a short-term deal – scoring once and providing four assists.

He is now set to follow left-back Tyrell Malacia through the doors at Old Trafford.

Malacia was pictured arriving at Carrington this morning to finalise his initial £13million move from Feyenoord.

But the pair may NOT have Cristiano Ronaldo as a teammate next season.

CR7 has sensationally told United chiefs he wishes to leave the club to play in the Champions League.

The 37-year-old had been due to hold crisis talks with Ten Hag today regarding his future, but his return to training has now been delayed due to family reasons.
