Corach Rambler wins Grand National with Vanillier in second place

Corach Rambler has won the Grand National at Aintree.

Vanillier crossed the line in second place with Gaillard du Mesnil claiming third spot.

Mister Coffey, having led for much of the race, faded in the final stages.

Derek Fox, the winning jockey, now has two Grand National victories to his name.

‘He is just a phenomenal horse.,’ Fox said. ‘I can’t believe it. He normally gets his head up a wee bit but today he travelled everywhere. He is the cleverest horse. He is so intelligent.’

The biggest race of the year was delayed by approximately 20 minutes after protesters forced their way onto the course.

A number of protesters breached security fences around the Liverpool venue with horses sent back to the pre-parade ring.

Police and security staff were seen dragging a number of individuals off the course with nine arrests made.
