A FORMER baseball prospect has died at the age of 21 after a horror car crash this week.
Darwyn Encarnacion died after the smash in Dominican Republic on Wednesday.
He signed a minor league New York Mets contract in 2019 and played for their Dominican Summer League team.
Encarnacion was driving his SUV when it fell off a bridge and into a ditch below, MLB insider report.
He survived the initial impact but later died at hospital.
A Mets academy executive told TMZ Sports: "He was a great human being, very disciplined, respectful and polite.
"He played with us for just one year, in 2019.
"He was even using his scholarship that the team gave him when he signed and was currently studying at university."
