Eagle-eyed fans spot Australia star appearing to point and laugh at fuming Lord's members as Bairstow row escalates | The Sun

CRICKET fans spotted Australia star Matthew Renshaw appearing to mock Lord's members following the controversial Jonny Bairstow run out on the final day of the Second Ashes Test.

The Aussies withstood a stunning 155 from Ben Stokes to clinch a 43-run victory on Sunday as they take a 2-0 lead into the Third Test at Headingley on Thursday.

But a storm surrounded the conclusion of the match following a questionable wicket during the first session of the fifth day.

Bairstow walked out of his crease after the final ball of an over, before Australian wicket-keeper Alex Carey stumped him.

Following a review, Bairstow was given out and England found themselves six wickets down.

A Stokes masterclass followed prior to lunch, before Australia were booed off the pitch.

And those jeers continued into the Long Room at Lord's as Usman Khawaja and David Warner were involved in a remarkable altercation with one of the members.

As they then made their way up the stairs towards the dressing rooms, one of the Aussie players – believed to be Renshaw – appeared to point and laugh at the Lord's members.

In response to the clip, one fan said: "Well done Renners."

Another added: "Perfect reaction 🤣."

And a third replied: "'Ha ha ha! You've lost your membership mate. Enjoy cricket from the couch for the rest of your life.'"

The MCC were forced to apologise for the incident involving Khawaja and Warner in the Long Room.

And three Lord's members have been suspended as a result of the bizarre altercation.

Cricket Australia are demanding an investigation into the matter.

And today, Rishi Sunak today took a swing at the Australians over the Ashes "cheating" storm.

Weighing in on the row, the cricket-mad PM backed the England team over a controversial wicket during the second Test at Lord's yesterday.

Mr Sunak's spokesman said: "The Prime Minister agrees with Ben Stokes, and he said he simply wouldn't want to win a game in the manner Australia did.

"The game did provide an opportunity to see Ben Stokes at his best and it was an incredible test match and he has confidence in the wall bounce back at Headingly".

The Third Ashes Test gets underway at Headingley at 11am BST on Thursday, July 6.
