ENGLAND take on Samoa in a tough opening Rugby League World Cup group game this weekend.

The big tournament finally gets underway on English soil a year after it was first postponed because of the Covid pandemic.

Shaun Wane's side will be hoping to go a step further than they did in 2017, when they lost in the World Cup final to Australia.

They come up against the Samoans in their opener, with games against France and Greece to come after that.

England's clash with Samoa takes place on Saturday, October 15.

England have won their last two encounters with Samoa and go into the clash as the favourites.
