Darts star Fallon Sherrock certainly seized her opportunity to prank fans on April Fools Day.

It's clear Sherrock, who burst onto the darts scene with her historic run at the World Championships in 2020, is still lapping up her historic nine-darter that she sealed at the Winmau Challenge Tour Event Nine last month.

She made more history by becoming the first woman ever to hit a nine-dart finish at a PDC event, when she eventually overcame Marco Verhofstad 5-3 in Germany.

And following her incredible moment, Sherrock decided to trick fans on social media. Uploading a formal picture of herself smiling, she captioned her post: "Absolutely buzzing!! Just been invited to play in the 2024 Premier League due to my recent achievement of a 9 dart leg at the Challenge Tour – Thank you @OfficialPDC."

Fans, and even fellow darts stars, were quick to applaud her efforts on social media. English player Matthew Edgar wrote: "Best one of the day. Got plenty," alongside a fishing rod.

Meanwhile, @WeeMan170 wrote on Twitter: "Tweet of the day for sure Fallon. I'm sure you've reeled in a fair few today," with a laughing emoji.

And @markbentley111 said: "Well played, this is going to get a fair few bites."

She received plenty of other similar tweets, after catching out those who hadn't clocked onto what day it was.

It comes following a fairly tough time of late for Sherrock, who missed out on the PDC's pro tour for the 2023-24 season after failing to secure a card in agonising circumstances at Q School.

And ahead of this year's Challenge Tour, the Queen of the Palace admitted she was hoping to "boost" her game after her disappointing run of form.

"I think last year, where I just done the Women's Series, it [consistency] wasn't good enough," she admitted in an interview with Online Darts. "I'll be brutally honest, it wasn't great for my match practice.

"In hindsight, I need to play Challenge Tour, I need to do the Modus Super Series. I need to play all the best players that I can to improve my game.

"Hopefully this year that's what I'm going to do, play more competitive in that way and try to boost my game and get it back to how it was."
