Former England and Juventus boss Fabio Capello reveals who he believes is the greatest Italian manager of all time

FORMER England and Juventus boss Fabio Capello has revealed his pick as best Italian manager of all time.

Capello won four Serie A titles in charge at AC Milan and lifted two LaLiga trophies in the Spanish capital.

But he named Carlo Ancelotti – who also had title-winning reigns in Milan and Madrid – as the most talented Italian to brace the dugout.

Capello, 76, told Sky Sport Italia: "The best Italian coach of all time is Ancelotti. Madrid played a fantastic game."

The veteran coach is one of the most renowned football mastermind's himself, winning the Serie A with three different teams.

Ancelotti is a familiar face in England, having led Chelsea to the Premier League title in 2010.

He also also took over at Everton in 2019 following spells with PSG, Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Napoli in between.

But he suddenly left Merseyside in 2021 to return to Spain, since winning the Champions League and LaLiga at the Bernabeu.

Madrid have kicked off their title defence with four wins in as many matches, leading rivals Barcelona by two points.

Capello is an esteemed manager himself but is most commonly remembered in England for his time in charge of the national team.

He took over from Steve McLaren in 2008 following England's failure to qualify for the European Championships.

Capello took England to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and won qualification into the 2012 Euros.

But he resigned before the tournament following the FA's decision to strip John Terry as captain.

Capello went on to manage Russia and Jiangsu in China but now retired from coaching in 2018 after being sacked.
