FRANKIE DETTORI has split from his long-time manager Peter Burrell.
The superstar jockey is retiring at the end of this year after a legendary career in the saddle.
But Burrell will not guide the Italian through the next stage of his professional life, which is expected to involve significant media work.
Burrell, who has also had high-profile clients like Ronnie Wood and Vinnie Jones on his books, has managed Dettori since he was a teenager.
He has been Dettori’s right-hand man since the early 90’s and has helped steer him through some of his lowest points, as well as the numerous highs.
Burrell said: "I've not too much to say other than we both felt that we wanted to explore other avenues.
"I have other projects that I now want to spend more time on and I'm looking forward to it.
"It's been a great thirty year run and we remain great friends."

The pair parted company for a brief period in 2007 and 2008 after Burrell set up his own bespoke bookmakers, Blacks.
But that business was bought out by Victor Chandler and the men reunited shortly afterwards.
Dettori, who is currently on holiday in Sardinia, became a household name after his famous 'Magnificent Seven' at Ascot in 1996 in which he rode every winner on the card – costing the bookies an estimated £40 million.
Burrell famously decided not to go to Ascot that day – and had to rush to the bookies in Newmarket to catch the final race on TV.
As well as being an ever-present during his time as a jockey, Burrell has helped oversee Dettori's incredibly successful career off the track.
The rider released his own film in 2021, has been a team captain on A Question Of Sport and also took part in Celebrity Big Brother in 2013.
