Racegoers love to try their hand at betting on the Grand National, with so many runners to pick
The Grand National is steeped in history having been in operation since 1839 – and it has become steeped in tradition for racegoers to try their hand at betting on the winner.
So far the most-backed horse is English-trained Back On The Lash at 33-1.
The 9-year-old Gelding has impressed in recent outings, but, nonetheless, Lucinda Russell-trained Corach Rambler remains the current favourite among bookmakers and is priced at 13/2 for now.
Minella Trump (50-1) trained by Donal McCann, son of esteemed English trainer Ginger McCann who trained Red Rum to win an astonishing three Grand National’s wins and on Saturday his son, Donald, will send Minella Trump out to tackle the famous fences.
The horse will travel with a cut of Red Rum’s mane inserted in his saddle cloth, and at odds of 50/1, he will need all the luck on his side.
The six most backed horses so far are Back On The Lash (33-1), Delta Work (8-1), Minella Trump (50-1), The Big Dog (20-1), Eva’s Oskar (50-1) and Cloudy Glen (80-1).
