Harry Kane revealed at his first Bayern Munich press conference that his desire to ‘push his limits’ was behind his decision to leave Tottenham to join the German champions.
Kane completed his £100m switch on Saturday morning, bidding farewell to the club he had spent almost two decades representing.
The 30-year-old acknowledged it was a ‘tough decision’ to move on, but felt that he needed to put his personal ambition first at this stage of his career.
‘It was always going to be a tough decision. Tottenham is a club connected with my heart. But I want to win titles and felt this was the right time,’ Kane said at his unveiling as a Bayern player on Sunday afternoon.
‘I’ve always wanted to push my limits and see how far that could take me. I want to be fighting for the Champions League, I want to be fighting for titles. I’m looking forward to that challenge.’

Kane’s transfer to Bayern has been one of this summer’s major stories, with fans left wondering whether he would get his dream move or stay at Spurs for another year to see out his contract.
Even when a deal between the two clubs was reached on Thursday evening, there was still some uncertainty over whether Kane would finally be given the green light to travel to Munich to finalise his move.
The striker admitted he had experienced a whirlwind week, revealing that he had not even had the chance to say goodbye to his Spurs team-mates properly before departing.
‘I didn’t get the chance. For sure over the next few weeks, whenever I get the chance to go back I’ll go back and say bye properly to everyone,’ he said.
Kane made his debut for Bayern just hours after arriving at the club on Saturday, but got off to the worst possible start as his side were beaten 3-0 by RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup.

Kane conceded it was a disappointing start to life in Germany as his well-documented trophy drought continued.
However, he has called for the German giants to avoid panicking, and still believes they can challenge for every major trophy on offer this season.
‘The team got off to a bad start yesterday, we conceded early which is never easy and I think it knocked some of the confidence of the players.
‘I see players with great quality, great personality. Hopefully with the addition of me, a bit more leadership, we can help the team as well.
‘It’s no time to panic, it’s a long season ahead.
‘For me (the aim is) to try to win every title that we have this season. That’s the target we want to see at Bayern Munich.
‘I think if we get to the end of the season and we haven’t won every trophy then the club will be a little disappointed.’
