FOR all the buzz around Baaeed and a bid for Arc glory, plenty of other big race wannabes have been overlooked.
William Haggas’ unbeaten star is 7-4 to win the Longchamp showpiece and will be plenty shorter if he makes it to the race.
He is the likeliest winner by a stretch, but there are still holes you can poke at. Even without the obvious temptations his team face to head to Ascot instead.
At the start of the season, this column marked out New London as a horse to follow after just the one run.
He failed to make his mark early on and missed the Derby but is now far and away the most exciting three-year-old colt in England.
He’s odds-on to win the St Leger but it’s his chances in the Arc that tempt me from a punting angle.

Doncaster winners have a shocking record in the big one, but this year’s renewal has a very open feel to it – especially if Baaeed is missing.
New London has raced without much hype for most of the summer after making his way back through the unsexy handicap route.
His latest win at Glorious Goodwood was cosy enough in a steadily-run race over Deauville Legend who has since won the Great Voltigeur with ease.
Annoyingly New London is the only horse, bar Baaeed, there has been money for in the last week or so for the Arc.
But there is still plenty of 20-1 around, and I’d not put anyone off having a tickle on Charlie Appleby’s star.
And while we are at it, why is Pyledriver still 16-1? Will the two-time Group 1 winner actually ever get some respect?

Sprint Cup Star
HARRY THREE looks a big old price in the Haydock Sprint Cup. Clive Cox has had a quiet season by his high standards but this speedster can put him back in the big time. Back him at 20-1.
BAAEED will warm up for a potential shot at the Arc with a racecourse gallop at Chelmsford.
Connections have opted against taking their star to Ireland for the Champion Stakes and the four-year-old will only run once more.
That means it will be nearly two months between his Juddmonte win and Champions Day at Ascot if Plan B comes into play.
William Haggas is keen to give Baaeed an away day to keep the gears turning and Chelmsford has always been the trainer's go to.

Earlier in the year, before the Lockinge, Baaeed’s last piece of work at the track was said to be electric.
He put nearly ten lengths between himself and a stablemate rated over 100.
He’s proved that was no fluke ever since and his team are praying their star gets to prove himself as one of the best ever in Paris on October 1.
They’re sure the only thing that can stop him is the weather.
Good Work
Lambourn latest
ROGER TEAL’S team have been flying late as his string recover from a pesky bug earlier in the summer. Keep an eye on DANCING MAGIC who could head to Haydock this weekend. Even though he’s still a maiden, Teal reckons he’s the best juvenile he’s ever had on his books.
TOP RATED two-year-old Little Big Bear has suffered a setback.
Aidan O’Brien’s monster juvenile has won his last four and was in line for a shot at the National Stakes on September 11.
After demolishing his rivals last time in the Phoenix Stakes, the youngster was already trimmed into just 7-2 for next year’s 2000 Guineas.
But that race has seemingly taken his toll on the star and he could possibly be done for the season.
If O’Brien doesn’t fancy getting his star back on song for a bid for the Dewhurst or Middle Park at Newmarket then the next time we see him may be in the spring.
O’Brien’s season has been saved by his top class juveniles and punters are relishing a clash between the best of his colts with Charlie Appleby’s stars as the season draws to an end.
Hopefully Little Big Bear can make one more apperance before attention switches to the hedge hoppers.
