He managed to turn the Listed Rosebery Stakes into a cakewalk at Ayr despite missing the break. He showed searing pace and wasn’t stopping at the line. He looks well up to this higher grade with more to come.

Templegate's TV verdicts for Friday
NEWMARKET
1.50
PRINCE OF PILLO managed to turn the Listed Rosebery Stakes into a cakewalk at Ayr despite missing the break.
He showed searing pace and wasn’t stopping at the line. He looks well up to this higher grade with more to come.
Rogue Spirit looks the main danger after a good handicap win at Haydock.
He has his sights raised here but clocked a good time and the yard is doing well with its two-year-olds.
Crispy Cat has acquitted himself in a host of good races without getting his head in front.
He was on the podium again in a Donny Group 2 at the Leger meeting and looks a good place prospect again.
Maylandsea wasn’t disgraced in the Cheveley Park here last time over 6f but this trip should suit better judged on her second in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot.
Wodao was gutsy in landing a Tipperary Listed prize when last seen in June and the Donnacha O’Brien runner is worth a market check.
2.25
CRYSTALLIUM caught the eye when winning a big-field contest at Newbury last month.
She showed lots of pace and the winning margin could have been more than a length. This is sharper opposition but she looks capable of much better.
Trainer Tom Clover does really well with juveniles and has a nice one on his hands here.
Believing has been going close in this grade and finished strongly when second at Ayr latest.
She moves up a furlong here which should help her chances.
Rage Of Bamby won a couple of maidens before running a cracker in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes here 14 days ago. She is right in the hunt again.
Youngest caught the eye with a good debut win at Leicester and is bred to perform at this level.
Lose Yourself is another debut winner with more to come.
3.00
SACRED gained a deserved first win of a good season when winning a Newbury Listed contest by more than six lengths 21 days ago.
That came after going close in the Group 1 Platinum Jubilee at Royal Ascot and Lennox at Glorious Goodwood.
The William Haggas horses are in excellent form and she looked right at home over this distance last time.
Umm Kulthum enjoyed herself when stepping up to this distance for the first time at Doncaster.
She was beaten just a neck in good company there and she handles any ground with more rain enhancing her chances.
Pogo hasn’t done much wrong this season and went close again at York last time.
He was beaten just over a length and never runs a bad race over this distance.
It will be interesting to see how he goes with William Buick taking over in the saddle.
Jumby probably wouldn’t want the ground to ease too much given his excellent form in quick conditions.
He was a Group 2 winner earlier this term but needs to bounce back from a modest effort at Newbury.
Purplepay has been keeping high company in Ireland and was far from disgraced at The Curragh last time.
She takes a big drop in distance here and more rain would bring her stamina into play.
Oscula is another who would prefer an extra furlong but she’s tough and won the last time Ryan Moore was on board.
3.35
COMMISSIONING looks destined for the top after two easy wins so far.
This daughter of Kingman kicked off with a smooth maiden win on the July course.
She left that already solid form behind when cruising home to take the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes here 14 days ago.
That saw her installed as second favourite for next year’s Oaks and with good reason.
Team Gosden’s flyer clocked a fast time and there will be a lot more to come.
Polly Pott impressed in handicaps but stepped up in style to land the red-hot May Hill Stakes at Doncaster.
Ed Dunlop’s filly was a 40-1 shock there but she won fair and square. Another good run here is very much on the cards.
Sparkling Beauty won a Goodwood maiden before heading to France for an excellent second in a Deauville Group 2.
She should improve for this longer trip and trainer Richard Hughes is finishing the season in good form.
Novakai chased home Polly Pott on Town Moor when leaving her previous form behind.
William Buick takes over on board which can’t hurt her chances.
Library comes over from Ballydoyle having won a maiden at Tipperary before going close in stronger company at Leopardstown.
Aidan O’Brien has a strong record in this race but this Galileo filly has a bit to find on form.
Alseyoob won well last time at Ascot but this is much tougher.
4.10
LA YAKEL caught the eye with an impressive success on handicap debut at Ascot. He relished moving up to this distance and kept finding more.
That was just his fourth run so William Haggas’s three-year-old can show more from a fair 5lb higher in the weights.
First Ruler showed promise at maiden level before a decent victory at Ascot in July.
He then had a little break before returning at the Royal track last month when going close behind the tip.
He is better off at the weights and is likely to make a bold bid to nick this from the front.
The King has chances of a win with Educator who scored on handicap debut at Newmarket before stepping back a little when second at Salisbury.
He will have needed that after five months off and can show his true colours.
Sir Mark Prescott has a chance with Sea King who was second past the post at Haydock last time before being demoted in the stewards’ room.
He hung badly there and would have more of a chance of staying in a straight line.
Simply Sondheim keeps winning in lesser contests and isn’t dismissed up in grade.
CHEPSTOW
1.35
CLOTH CAP is at his best after a break and ran his best race last term first-up at Cheltenham.
He was last seen in the Grand National and this is a big drop in class. He can make his quality show from this reduced handicap mark.
Some Chaos lost his way after winning this race 12 months ago but still managed to hit the frame a couple of times.
We know he likes this quirky track and he’s another who is dropping down the handicap.
Broken Quest has much the best recent form on show. He landed a small-field hat-trick before a solid second at Perth in June.
He’s the obvious danger given the question mark over the others.
Forgot To Ask scored at Stratford before a fair Perth third. He’s creeping up the weights but should make his presence felt.
Al Roc has a fitness edge but must raise his game.
2.10
DEEPER BLUE improved as last season went on and signed off with a 30-length victory at Fontwell before another impressive success at Exeter.
He keeps it simple from the front and will take lots of pegging back.
Presentandcounting scored easily on handicap debut at Worcester last month and that fitness could give Donald McCain’s runner an edge.
This is tougher but he can take a step forward.
Quid Pro Quo has caught the eye in novice ranks with good victories at Warwick and Newton Abbot.
He is highly rated by his top connections and has a touch of class.
Accidental Rebel hasn’t done a lot wrong and won a hat-trick before going close again at Worcester. He’s upped in grade with a chance.
YORK
2.40
WHAT’S THE STORY comes here in cracking form after a neck second in hot company at Ayr last time.
He has a good record at York and can run another big race.
Similar comments apply to Northern Express who was a bit unlucky when beaten five lengths here last time and has solid each-way claims.
Substantial finished like a train when beaten a head at Goodwood last time.
That was all the better because he hated the tricky track and will be much happier here despite a tough draw.
Empirestateofmind ran another belter when beaten half a length at Doncaster and will be a threat despite going up the weights.
Arthur’s Realm was a place behind him on Town Moor.
His wins have come in lesser grades but he has place prospects.
Helm Rock won well at Haydock and is competitive again despite a 7lb rise in the weights.
3.15
COCO JACK was unlucky not to catch Tyrone’s Poppy at Chester last time and can reverse the form.
Both horses like this trip but the George Scott runner just has the edge.
Streets Of Gold sets a good standard after winning a hot York handicap before taking the big sales race at The Curragh last time.
That is strong form over 6f and he’ll go close if seeing out this extra furlong.
Defence Of Fort won on debut at Ascot and was far from disgraced when fourth in the Solario at Sandown last time.
He’s had a little break since then and is a threat.
Chillhi has won both his starts on the all-weather at Newcastle and clocked a personal best there last time.
He has proven stamina and could run into the frame.
Shouldvebeenaring took Listed honours at Ripon before a solid Group 2 effort at Newbury. He is another stepping up in distance with a chance.
3.50
AIMERIC battled right to the line when winning on the nod at Ayr three weeks ago.
Despite the short margin he looked to have something left in the tank and is up just 2lb.
He has proven stamina and is capable of better after just two handicap runs.
Nathanael Greene has been off since winning over this distance at Haydock in July.
He stayed strongly and an 8lb rise in his mark may not put the brakes on.
Double Cherry led home Zain Nights, Post Impressionist and Flamborough at Haydock last month.
The former did well to overcome traffic problems to land that win and can confirm the form.
Post Impressionist was unlucky too and looks capable of improvement.
Zimmerman was a cosy Redcar winner and is a threat under a penalty in a really open race.
