'It's not a souvenir!' – Watch as golf fan picks up ball before receiving a rollicking by marshal at pro tournament | The Sun

A DOPEY golf fan picked up a ball then received a rollicking at a major pro tournament.

The clueless supporter waltzed along the side of the rough behind the ropes where fans can watch the action.

But then she inexplicably bent down and collected the ball, holding it up proudly after her miraculous find.

However, her smile was soon wiped off her face as a furious marshal marched over and ordered her to place it back where it was before appearing to tell her off in no uncertain terms.

Because, surprisingly enough, the ball was not just a random one found in the bushes like at a local course.

No, it belonged to world No3 superstar Nelly Korda, who had moments earlier missed the fairway on the sixth at the Evian Championship in France – with £830,000 on the line for the winner.

One said: "Blows my mind what some spectators do at golf tournaments! Amazed me at The Open the amount of people wandering past tee boxes shouting to their pals, or on their phones!"

Another wrote: "Can’t really call her a fan probably her first time to the golf."

And a third simply added: "Whoops."

At the time early in the final round, American Korda was 13-under-par and in a tie for third, three shots off the leaders.

The 23-year-old was not given a penalty for the fan's blunder, she made her only double bogey of the week with a painful six after her wayward tee shot.

Korda – whose sister Jessica is ranked 14th and brother Seb a top-60 tennis ace – eventually recovered to finish back at 13-under as Brooke Henderson sealed her second major on 17-under.
