Britain’s Joe Salisbury and American partner Rajeev Ram squandered a two set lead against Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell to lose in the Wimbledon men’s doubles semi-final on Thursday.
Salisbury, the world No 1 in men’s doubles, and Ram took the first set 6-3 on court one before claiming the second after a tiebreak. The pair were later handed five match points but failed to capitalise.
In an impressive comeback, Ebden and Purcell edged out a close tiebreak in the third before taking the final two sets 6-4 and 6-2 to book a place in Saturday’s final.
