Jonny Clayton pins Sky Sports Darts pundit to ground after mocking dress sense

Mark Webster was hilariously pinned to the floor by Jonny Clayton after mocking his fellow Welsh darts hero’s dress sense.

Webster, now a Sky Sports pundit after calling time on his professional career, and former Premier League winner Clayton are good pals and are often spotted together at tournaments.

However, it seems Clayton took exception to a jibe from Webster about his choice of casual attire. After MDA Events tweeted that Clayton would be replacing Michael van Gerwen, who picked up an injury in the Premier League on Thursday, at the Armageddon exhibition event in Leicester on Friday, Webster tweeted a picture of his mate and wrote: “Hope he’s got changed.”

Darts reporter Polly James replied, saying: “Hahaha you’ve done him dirty Webby.” Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge added: “You’re brutal [laughing face emoji].”

Meanwhile, former Sky Sports darts presenter Helen Chamberlain cheekily tweeted a gif which read: “Crime scene, do not cross.”

A current Sky reporter, Abigail Davies, added: “Cannot wait to see how he gets you back for this mush.”

Clayton certainly didn’t take the jibe lying down, with his reply featuring a picture of him pinning Webster to the ground. “What u saying about my dress sense now,” wrote the Ferret.

Following the exhibition, Clayton and many of his rivals have been in Players Championship action, also in Leicester. The Ferret suffered a first round exit in event 11 on Saturday. Players Championship 12 is taking place today (Sunday).

Attention will then turn to the Premier League Play-offs at the O2 on Thursday, which see Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, Van Gerwen and Clayton challenge for the title.

Van Gerwen looks set to take part following his injury scare in Aberdeen on Thursday and has been in Players Championship action this weekend.
