Kai Pearce-Paul shock England's World Cup squad inclusion – along with Andy Ackers | The Sun

SALFORD hooker Andy Ackers has made England's World Cup squad after a stellar Super League season.

And Wigan's Kai Pearce-Paul is the surprise choice as boss Shaun Wane reveals his 24-man party.

Ackers is joined by clubmates Marc Sneyd and Kallum Watkins for the tournament, recognition for a fine domestic campaign.

Wane has also opted for experienced heads, with Mike Coper, Ryan Hall and Chris Hill making it.

Mike McMeeken makes it three Catalans Dragons players, alongside skipper Sam Tomkins and hooker Michael McIlorum.

While St Helens' starlet Jack Welsby's form in several positions has earned him a place, while back rower Joe Batchelor also gets the nod.

Clubmates Tommy Makinson, Morgan Knowles and Matty Lees are also in.
