Luis Suarez puts Premier League clubs on red alert as he reveals his transfer to River Plate has collapsed | The Sun

LUIS SUAREZ put Premier League clubs on red alert as his River Plate move collapsed.

The free-agent striker, 35, is said to be interesting three European teams after snubbing the Argentine giants due to their Copa Libertadores KO.

The ex-Liverpool and Barcelona star, who left Atletico Madrid last month, has always dreamed of winning South America's top club competition.

But River Plate's exit and old club Nacional failing to get in contact means the Uruguay hero has reverted to his original plan of staying in the major European leagues.

Suarez told Ovacion: "A month and a half ago, I declared that I was not going to leave Europe.

"But River insisted and insisted so much that I came to consider it, and there was a possibility.

"You are excited that they love you so much. I was very excited about the possibility of going to River to fight for the Copa Libertadores.

"It was a dream that I had to win a cup in South America. As River was knocked out, that possibility falls away."

And he was 'surprised' as well as disappointed that Uruguayans Nacional, made no approach.

The former Ajax attacker said: "If I came to think and get excited about the possibility of River, the same would happen with that of Nacional, which was my home.

"I am surprised that the leaders of Nacional did not even call me to find out my situation.
