MANCHESTER CITY’S leadership group for this season has been revealed.
And Ilkay Gundogan has been voted in by his peers as the club’s new captain.
Fernandinho was City’s main leader before his departure this summer.
Players and staff voted for the Brazilian’s replacement over the summer.
And the Telegraph claims Gundogan has come out on top to take the captain’s armband.
But the German will be supported by four teammates in his new role.

Kevin De Bruyne has been given the vice-captaincy after coming second in the vote.

Gundogan has proven to be an extremely reliable asset for manager Pep Guardiola since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
He’s scored an impressive 50 goals in 256 games for City.
And Gundogan has also won four Premier League titles, four Carabao Cups and one FA Cup.
He had been tipped to leave City this summer after approaching the final year of his contract.
Instead, Gundogan has started both opening Premier League wins for the champs, even scoring against Bournemouth.
And it’s now teammate Bernardo Silva who is being strongly linked with a move away, as Barcelona are interested.
