MANCHESTER UNITED manager Erik ten Hag reportedly failed in a late move to snatch Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich’s clutches.
The 20-year-old Dutch midfielder confirmed his £21million transfer switch from Ajax to the Bundesliga champions over the weekend.
That was after Gravenberch had spoken to Erik ten Hag over potentially following his ex-mentor at Ajax to Old Trafford this summer.
However, he has now revealed that he snubbed that opportunity as he had “given Bayern his word” that he would join.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, Gravenberch said: “Manchester United is a very big and nice club. But I already had such a good feeling at Bayern and I had them given my word.”
He also shared his excitement about linking up with his ex Ajax team-mate Noussair Mazraoui at Bayern.

Gravenberch said: “I like the fact that Nous [Noussair Mazraoui] is going there [Bayern Munich] too. It's always nice when you already know someone.'
“My mother will come to live with me in Munich. And my father will be here a lot to take care of all kinds of things, so that I can fully focus on football.
“I hope to find a house in the coming weeks. Otherwise, I will spend the first few weeks in a hotel.”
